Canada uses the metric system. Distance is measured by kilometres (1 km = .62 miles), speed signs are in kilometres per hour (km/h), gas is sold by the litre (approx. 4.5 litre = 1 Imperial gallon and 3.8 litre = 1 U.S. gallon) and temperature is measured on the celsius scale (to convert celsius to fahrenheit very approximately multiply by two and add 32). Fresh produce is marked in prices per pound as well as per kilogram.
